The energy is electric, the dresses are sparkling, and the dance floors at the Royal York are calling our names! The 21st Annual Canadian Salsa & Bachata Congress is finally upon us, and it’s time to dive into one of the most spectacular dance events of the year.

This legendary congress, the longest-running in Canada, promises an unforgettable weekend packed with everything a dancer’s heart desires. Get ready for:

It’s a whirlwind of motion, music, and passion from Thursday to Sunday. To help you navigate the excitement, we’ve put together some essential tips and need-to-know info to maximize your congress experience.

Plan Your Attack: Schedule & Priorities

With so much happening, a game plan is essential. Remember, you can't do it all! The key is to focus on your priorities to avoid burnout.

New Earlier Times! Note the schedule changes: The Amateur competition starts at 8:00 AM on Thursday, and the Professional & Team competitions now begin at 6:00 PM that same night. Spectator doors open at 5:30 PM—get there early to secure your spot and cheer on the competitors!
Shows Start at 8:30 PM on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Arrive an hour early for a good seat, or upgrade to a VIP seat for $25 at the door (limited availability).
Themes & Glam: Dress to impress! The themes are Thursday: Dress to Impress, Friday: Red Carpet, Saturday: Formal Gala, and Sunday: Glitter and Glam. This is your chance to shine!

Gear Up for Success

Long days on your feet require preparation. Here’s how to stay comfortable and energized:

Fuel Your Body: Bring a water bottle, snacks (nuts, fruit), and a change of clothes. The days are long, and you’ll need the energy.
Rest is a Weapon: They say you can’t do all four: workshops, socials, competitions, and sleep. Our advice? Don’t sacrifice sleep. A well-rested dancer is a happy, injury-free dancer.
The Right Footwear: This is non-negotiable. Comfortable, supportive dance shoes are your best friend. Whether you’re in workshops all day or social dancing all night, the right pair makes all the difference. And remember, the best way to find your perfect fit is to try them on in person!

Important Housekeeping & Updates

To ensure a smooth experience for everyone, please keep these points in mind:

Tickets & Registration: Advance ticket prices are gone, but you can still buy all passes at the door—we do NOT sell out! The Registration Office is open late; check the times above. Performers must pick up their passes before 2:00 AM Friday to avoid a late entrance fee.
No Outside Alcohol: There is a cash bar every night. The hotel has a zero-tolerance policy for outside alcohol in the ballrooms and foyers. Security will be enforcing this.
Keep it Down: Please be mindful of hotel guests! The Royal York is strict about noise in guestrooms after 11:00 PM. Party in the ballrooms, not the hallways.
Practice Spaces: Designated rooms (Salon B, Toronto Room, Tudor Room) are available for practicing and private lessons. Please use these spaces instead of the public hotel areas.
