One does not simply get excited about summer in Canada. One gets RIDICULOUSLY EXCITED (1). It’s warm, there is sunshine, and everything and everyone comes alive. Really, there’s nothing like it. And since we like to party like nobody’s business in summer, we’ve put together a list of our favourite outdoor dance activities!

Montrealers rejoice! Fiesta Olympica is back this year! Every Sunday from 4pm to 11pm the de l’Esplanade area, located just behind metro Pie-IX, transforms into a Latin dancing paradise. Listen to good music, relax in lawn chairs or poofsa, or hit the outdoor floor and show us your moves. And it’s FREE! Outdoor Dance Floor -- Lachine

Take advantage of the warm evenings and the beauty of the river in Lachine and come out to dance! Mondays offer line dance; Tuesdays are country dance; Wednesdays are hip-hop nights (oh yeah) as well as Zumba gold; while Thursdays are regular Zumba! An annual event and open to the public, no registration is necessary. Just bring your dance shoes and hit the floor! Find the outdoor dance floor behind the Lac Saint-Louis Game Hunting and Fishing Club (3051 Boulevard Saint-Joseph).

Swing l’été! -- Verdun

Swing l’été is an admission-free outdoor swing dance event which aims to unite the Montreal swing dance community. It occurs three times throughout the summer, one Saturday per month (June, July and August) and is organized in collaboration with the City of Verdun and with Montreal’s swing dance studios (Cat’s Corner, Swing ConneXion and Studio-88-Swing). Swing l’été offers beginner classes for the curious and intermediate classes for the regular dancers as well as social dancing and performances for all! Visit their website for all the details!
