All That Glitters!: La Classique du Quebec 2020 is HERE
Alright dancers. It's THAT time of year again. Brush off your shoes and pack all the glitter because it’s almost time for La Classique! From February 13 to 16 the crème de la crème of ballroom (this means you) will be competing at Hotel Bonaventure in downtown Montreal, Quebec. And given that this is one of our most highly anticipated events of the year, iLoveDanceShoes cannot wait. What better way to shake off the winter blues than with Canada’s premier dance competition?
And even if you’re not competing, this is a competition like no other. Dancers will be setting the floor on fire all day for four days. That being said, there are some highlights to the schedule. Thursday, February 13 is the biggest day, culminating with the Professional Rising Star Championships in Ballroom and Smooth and the big Pro show by Ferdinando Iannaccone & Yulia Musikhina at 22h00! Friday, February 14 will have Solo Exhibitions in the morning and Professional Championships in the evening. And Saturday, February 15 features a Professional Showdance Exhibition.
Essentially: you don’t want to miss a thing. *cue Aerosmith*

And on the subject of details, here are some other things you should know:
The Hotel
Hotel Bonaventure is located in the heart of downtown Montreal, Quebec, one of Canada’s most beautiful cities. It’s a chassé away from the Old Port, museums, and great restaurants. It’s also right across from the Gare Central and the orange metro line which makes inner-city travel a breeze. And it has a heated outdoor pool. Need we say more?
The Event
Founded in February 1977 La Classique is a World Dance Council (WDC) ranking event and open to professionals, amateurs, pro-am, seniors, and juniors in both International and American Styles. Couples may also compete in the same-sex category.
And this year’s pro-show stars Ferdinando Iannaccone & Yulia Musikhina! Both Ferdinando and Yulia discovered a passion for dancing at a young age. Yulia was born in Russia and began dancing at the age of 10 for pleasure. She began competing in Latin in 2003. Ferdinando is originally from Italy and together he and Yulia dance for England.
Yulia and Ferdinando began dancing together in 2006, when Yulia moved to Bologna, Italy. They began competing as Youth for Italy. Now dancing for England, Yulia & Ferdinando are 3 times Blackpool Amateur Latin Champions, 4 times USA Amateur Latin Champions, UK & International Champions. In October 2019, the couple made a professional announcement at the International Championships in the Royal Albert Hall: they were turning professional.
