HOW TO CHOOSE A DANCE STYLE? (FOR BEGINNERS)

Dance is defined as "movement of the body to music." but… what kind of music? How to move my body? These questions can appear as a beginner because as we all know there are tons of options when it comes to dancing.
In this blog we will try to guide you to find your music taste and your dance style.

First things first, have you ever asked yourself what kind of music do I like or what kind of dances do I feel comfortable doing?

If not.. Let’s get started

It's a quite difficult decision to choose between Ballroom, Latin American and Swing dancing. Some people are visual learners, some are not. And no one would choose a dancing style just based on another person’s opinion. This article is for the dancers who haven’t chosen their dance style yet but want to take their time before making a decision. Take my hand and let me show you how this works.

Here is a video that will give you some idea of what to look for in a style of dance:

I don’t know what it is about dancing that makes us feel happiness, joy, and truth. We don’t put any demands on a dancer, we take for what he or she is doing now and nothing else. You don’t need to be a professional one; you just need to have a passion for this art and let yourself flow with the music.

So, did you feel closer to any dance style after this video? Now you should ask yourself, is it beginner friendly?

You don’t wanna choose a style that requires advanced training in order to keep you rolling for a couple more weeks. You don’t want to get unmotivated after your first lesson and decide that you lack any natural ability.

For me, I started dancing Ballroom & Latin because these types of dances that can be danced by all ages & levels because most of the steps involved fall under beginner/intermediate level.

How do I learn dancing? Where do I dance?

Alright, so you want to learn how to dance, you found the dance style you want to learn. That’s great! Dancing is a fun way to meet new people and make some friends. But how do you go about learning how to dance?

There are a lot of different ways to go about learning how to dance. You can take classes at your local community college or dance studio, or even online through an online class. There are also plenty of books out there that can teach you the basics of dancing.

But before you get started in any of these ways, there is one thing you need: Find a teacher with a proven system for teaching people how to dance!

As the famous saying goes – you cannot build a great building on a weak foundation. The same applies to dancing.

You don’t feel like taking dance classes or feeling shy about dancing in public?

It is okay to be shy, we all have been when we first started. Find joy in music and dances you like to dance to, and soon, without realizing it, you’ll notice that your shyness has taken a break!

Remember this:

“I am not what I think I am, and I am not what you think I am. I am what I think you think I am.”
