Dancers! Do you drink water? Are you one of those who only drink water when they are extremely tired from dancing all day long, and only take a glass of water as soon as you have got that little rumbling in your stomach? Or are you one of those who drink water all day just because they know it is better for you and your overall health?
Let's face it — we've all had moments where the thought of drinking 8 glasses of water a day just seems like too much. However, there are also some people who don't like drinking water since it simply makes them feel uncomfortable or may not actually enjoy the taste. In this article, you will see plenty of tips for dealing with this situation.
How much water should you drink everyday?
In order to adequately hydrate your body (especially dancers who always forget to hydrate before hours of practice), it is important to constantly think of ways that you can increase your water intake. Each person's daily water consumption requirements differ. The Ministry of Health recommends a daily water consumption of 35 ml per kilogram of body weight. A person weighing 60 kg, for example, should drink at least 2,100 ml of water per day.
(2.100ml = 60kg x 35ml)
Benefits of water
Oh you didn't know that water was good for you? Yeah well it's true! We are mostly made of water and we need it to survive. It is in our blood, our sweat and even our tears. That's why we need to drink at least eight glasses of water every day and take note of the consequences if we don't heed this advice and get dehydrated (such as constipation, headaches, fatigue and sleepiness) especially for dancers who are active all the time, it is much faster to feel tired without drinking water.
