Pivoting to virtual - An Interview with Jennifer Aucoin (CSBC)

While times may seem tough at the moment, it is important to remember that our dance community is coming together to support each other and to show a lighter side of life under coronavirus lockdown.

From the beginning of this pandemic, the need to stay connected was immediately apparent. Zoom dance classes are popping up everywhere giving us the possibility to connect on a global scale. And, dance competitions are not exception. Virtual dance competitions are exactly what we all need right now. It is an online platform for dancers to compete, gain valuable, constructive feedback and receive recognition.

We had the pleasure of sitting down with Jennifer Aucoin, the founder and producer of the annual Canada Salsa & Bachata Congress, the largest and longest running salsa congress in Canada, now going into its eighteenth year. Jennifer is the founder and organizer of the Canadian Salsa & Bachata Championships, Canada’s largest salsa and bachata dance competition. She is also the founder and director of STEPS Dance Studio in Toronto and she has taught workshops in Puerto Rico, Europe, South America, Mexico, the U.S. and Canada.

Welcome to another iLoveDanceShoes interview recap, let’s meet Jennifer!
